Quake Heroes Movie May 12, 1:30PM Clubhouse 4

The Leisure World Emergency Information Council will host a screening of the motivational documentary Quake Heroes which depicts stories from the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Quake Heroes is a unique blend of Hollywood storytelling and real-life heroism, designed to inspire individual and community resilience in preparation for the next big earthquake. Based on true stories from America’s costliest earthquake, this film is more than just a captivating movie – it’s a strategic tool for individuals and organizations to engage their communities. The screening will be held at 1:30pm on Monday May 12 in Clubhouse 4.

Screening of the film will be followed by a Q&A with Mark Benthien, the Director of Public Education and Preparedness at the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Mark is headquartered at the University of Southern California where he works to increase earthquake and tsunami awareness and to reduce loss. He is also the Executive Producer of Quake Heroes.

The Emergency Information Council (EIC) is a community-based organization whose principal purpose is to compile and make available emergency management, response information and preparedness planning through publication and maintenance of information booklets and pamphlets. It also works to develop and publish disaster response plans, sponsor activities and events principally within the Leisure World Seal Beach community.
